Some Neighbors of La Casa de Camillo Torres |
||
|
There is a small community, Campo Santiago, of about 80 families that is across the road from the Catholic Worker farm that Richard and Araceli have created. Half of the families in the communit are headed by women, most because the men have gone to the U.S. to find work to support their families. Unfortunately, many of the men dissappear after they leave for the U.S. The families don't know whether their husbands and fathers are even alive since so many die on the trip north. Even if they survive the trip to the U.S. many men lose contact with their families and never come home. Ric hard and Araceli help the single mother of these children with work and money for the kids to go to school, books, uniforms, etc.. |
